2020 INFINITI Q50 vs. 2021 Acura TLX
As you search for an exceptional sport sedan, two models that will come up in your research are sure to be the 2020 INFINITI Q50 and the Acura TLX. Both sedans have a lot to offer modern drivers in terms of performance, comfort and convenience. Compare the two to find out which is best suited to your needs.
Performance
While a sedan if often all about comfort and convenience, buyers expect a certain level of performance as well. Both the INFINITI and Acura sedans meet expectations here. With the redesign, the 2021 TLX is more powerful than before with a VTEC engine for 272 horsepower. However, it still doesn’t beat the 3.0L V6 of the 2020 INFINITI Q50 with 300 horsepower at the base trim and 400 horsepower for the high end. Both models come with an all-wheel drive option, but one of the major differences is the INFINITI is a rear-wheel model while the Acura is front-wheel drive.
Comfort and Convenience
One of the major changes for the new TLX is a larger presence with a longer wheelbase and width. However, that space doesn’t translate into more passenger room. The Acura stays around 93 cubic feet for passenger volume while the 2020 INFINITI Q50 comes in at 101 cubic feet. Cargo volume is comparable for both models, coming in around 13 cubic feet. With the prior year TLX, the Q50 offered two inches more for front legroom and three inches extra headroom for the front passenger while rear passenger space was comparable between the two models.
Advanced Technology
Modern drivers expect to see advanced technology on sedans for entertainment and information. Both of these models more than meet those needs. The updated Acura comes with an available ELS Studio 3D premium audio system with four speakers mounted on the ceiling and a subwoofer. The 2020 INFINITI Q50 offers a bit more with the Bose performance series and 16 speakers with surround sound. Standard for the 2021 TLX is a seven-inch multi-information display while the INFINITI boasts a dual-display with an eight-inch upper and seven-inch lower screen.
Safety
Acura has updated the safety systems with this new model to be more competitive. AcuraWatch provides multiple safety features to work in conjunction with each other, such as adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist. Advanced technology enhances the 2020 INFINITI Q50 as well with predictive forward collision warning, which also helps prevent accidents with forward emergency braking. Direct adaptive steering on the Q50 inputs information directly to the wheels for smoother steering and less effort to stay in your lane. Lane departure prevention works with active lane control to ensure you don’t drift into the wrong lane.
